John Stainer

Alumni

At John Stainer Primary and Nursery School, we pride ourselves in our strong sense of community. We have a keen interest in the paths that our pupils follow after they have left us and we always enjoy hearing about their experiences and achievements when they come back and see us.

Lifelong friendships are formed at the school gates but it is all too easy to lose touch with primary school friends as life takes us along different paths. We hope that this page will remind you of happy times and friendships enjoyed past and present.

Why work at John Stainer?

Quotes

My John Stainer Primary School journey started as a parent. Soon I was involved in the community and became a volunteer reader. I enjoyed this role so much – having the privilege of seeing the children’s confidence grow as they became independent readers. This inspired me to build a career in education which the school’s management and wider staff fully supported me to do and that support continues to this day. Throughout my time at John Stainer, I have always been impressed by the commitment of all the staff to ensure that the children receive a wide ranging and rich education where everyone’s needs are considered and integrated into the curriculum. After working at the school for over 16 years, I still enjoy working here.

Working at John Stainer Primary School is a gratifying experience. The school's commitment to fostering values such as honesty, community, friendship, and kindness creates a positive and inspiring atmosphere. The optimistic attitudes of staff, and the well-behaved children contribute to a professional and harmonious working environment, making it a truly fulfilling place to work.

Ever since I was a little princess, I used to 'pretend' to teach any child who would allow me to do so. Fortunately for me, John Stainer welcomed me with open arms and gave me the opportunity I had been craving for. I was only supposed to be here for 8 weeks  (my last placement) and then go on to  look for a job but once I entered I did not want to leave and they did not want to let me go! I have been here for over 10 years now and I have never felt more at home. The children, staff, parents,  Governors and the community all work together to make the school what is it today.  The values of kindness, friendship, happiness, honesty and respect are at the core of the school and that is what makes us a John Stainer family!"

Liz Sho – Reception Teacher

I have worked in many schools but none have had the feeling of community and being a part of a team at its core like John Stainer. In my role as a TA, I feel valued and appreciated for the hard work I do and this has not always been the case elsewhere. Working at John Stainer has allowed my passion for helping others to be fulfilled and working with children is immensely rewarding. I enjoy every day coming into work.
