Online Safety advice for apps and games

The best way to decide if  game or app is appropriate for your child is to ask to play it with them so that you can experience if for yourself and try to see it through their eyes.

If you are  still not sure, give yourself time to do some research before making a final decision.

Net aware is an Online Safety partnership between O2 and the NSPCC and it is an invaluable online guide for parents. It covers over 50 of the apps and sites most commonly used by young people including ROBLOXFortnite and WhatsApp. It provides an overview of the game/site, the PEGI rating, feedback from parents and children. It also has advice on privacy settings, how to remove content on different apps and sites, block people and report abuse.

Common Sense Media offers a similar service if you look at the parents section and provides even more detail if you find you need a bit more information. However, please be aware that some of the games ratings may differ as this is an American site.
